Phase 4: First Steps · Lesson 1 of 4
How do you find like-minded people?
Finding people with similar interests involves patience and the same care you would bring to any meaningful relationship. Online communities, curated events, and platforms built around kink culture all provide access — but the quality of connection still depends on the same things it always does: honesty, communication and time.
Where to look
Dedicated kink platforms (FetLife is the largest), curated munches (informal social gatherings), and private events organised through trusted communities are all legitimate routes. Many cities also have regular educational events run by established organisations.
Online is usually the starting point. Moving from online to in-person is its own process, and should involve the same care as any meeting with a new person.
What to prioritise
Chemistry, honesty and similar values matter more than matching precisely on every activity. A person who is thoughtful, communicative and respectful about consent is a better match than someone who shares an interest but is unclear about agreements.
Key points
- ✓Dedicated platforms, munches and organised events are all legitimate starting points.
- ✓Online connection is normal. Moving to in-person involves additional safety considerations.
- ✓Values and communication style matter as much as specific interests.
- ✓The kink community has a strong culture of safety and consent. Seek people who reflect it.
Try this
- 1.Research one local munch, workshop or educational event in your area. You do not have to attend — just knowing it exists often changes something.
